Developing an Elixir-based DSL for Social Impact Organizations

The talk delivered at ElixirConf EU 2023 focused on creating a domain specific language inspired by Hypercard and Livebook, using the Elixir parser and Nimble Parsec. This was developed to help social impact organizations amplify their work through chat services by providing a way to describe evidence-based, replicable services that they could build upon for a broad impact. The presenters shared their journey and results from launching services using this DSL in Ukraine and globally. They discuss the ability of Elixir to handle complex parsing and code structure transformation, showcasing transformations from a visual canvas to Elixir structs, as well as from DSL to flow interoperability standard for chat services. The talk concluded by emphasizing the potential of technology, specifically using tools like Elixir, for creating social unicorns – organizations that impact the lives of a billion people positively.
