Enhancing Elixir Migrations with the Ash Framework

Barnabas Jovanovics presented how his company transitioned their backend from Node.js to Elixir using the Ash framework. Initially, their backend, built with Next.js, was slow and cumbersome. The company, consisting of a small team, saw an opportunity to improve performance and scalability, especially for a new customer-facing application. They chose Elixir and the Ash framework for its ease in handling complex data operations and efficient traffic management. Barnabas detailed the whole migration process, from defining resources and setting up a Postgres database, to implementing authorization and integrating external services like Stripe. He emphasized the benefits of Ash, such as built-in filters, sorting, and robust community support.
