Introducing Livebook for Interactive and Collaborative Elixir Notebooks

José Valim announced the release of Livebook, an open-source web application for creating interactive and collaborative code notebooks in Elixir, implemented using Phoenix LiveView. The aim is to make the Erlang VM and its ecosystem more suitable for numerical and scientific computing. Livebook supports multiple notebooks, sections with Markdown and Elixir cells, persistence through the .livemd format, sequential evaluation, custom runtimes, explicit dependencies, and collaborative features. The announcement also hints at future plans to focus on visual, collaborative, and interactive features.
