Introduction to the Erlang Ecosystem Foundation

Type: Video

Desmond Bowe took the stage at an EMPEX Conference to introduce the Erlang Ecosystem Foundation. The Foundation, which officially launched in February, evolved from the Erlang Industrial Users Group with an intention to unite efforts between Erlang and Elixir communities and continue building momentum. The goal is to be inclusive of Beam technologies and the broader ecosystem, extending beyond Erlang to embrace languages like Elixir, LFE, Alpaca, and others that may join. The Foundation encourages the community to be involved, especially through initiating and contributing to working groups that are driven by community proposals. These groups aim to progress the technology and solve issues within the ecosystem. Desmond also highlights the revamped Foundation website, the opportunities for both free and paid memberships (with voting rights and financial contribution to Foundation activities for paid ones), and the further funding opportunities through corporate sponsorship. The Foundation aims to grow the cause within the current ecosystem and extend its reach into other communities. With an eye on the future of Beam technologies, inclusivity, and active community involvement, the foundation invites everyone to actively participate and shape the direction of this collaborative effort.
